The Claims Process

We make it easier

If a disaster has impacted your home or business, you’ll probably have a lot of questions. At First Atlantic Restoration, we’ve been dealing with disaster situations on a daily basis for nearly 25 years, so our trained and experienced team members will be able to make the recovery process a lot easier for you.

One of the most stressful parts about recovering from a disaster is dealing with the insurance company. Trying to figure out what is and isn’t covered and making sure you get all the right paperwork filed can be very frustrating. Fortunately, our team members have extensive experience dealing with all the major insurance providers, and they will help guide you through the entire process.

Step 1: Contact your insurance agent and submit your claim

Your agent will give you specific instructions on how to submit your claim—in many cases, it’s as simple as filling out a form on the internet.

Step 2: An adjuster is assigned to your case

Once your claim has been filed and reviewed, a property adjuster will usually be assigned to your case. They will come out to your property and inspect the damage, and then they will give you more information on what you need to do to push the claim through.

Step 3: Take a close look at your specific policy

Every insurance policy is different, so you’ll want to read it closely to see what your obligations are. In many cases, you will be expected to take steps to minimize damage and to contact your provider as quickly as possible. You should also keep a record of any personal living expenses incurred as a result of the damage, as you may be able to get reimbursed for them.

Step 4: We take over

While your claim is being processed, we will continue to work to restore your property to its pre-disaster condition. Throughout this period, we will also work with your insurance provider to ensure that the claims process goes smoothly and that everything is appropriately documented.

Depending on the insurance provider, we may receive a check directly from the provider or you may need to submit payment to us after receiving your check.

If you have any questions or concerns about the insurance process—or anything else to do with disaster recovery—please feel free to contact us.
